Some of the most insightful experiences happen when people are conversing and they assume that you don’t know their language. Its almost like being invisible i tell you! So here i was at the coffee machine at the workplace and there were these two gults(thats telugu in reverse for those who didn’t know) around and since i was speaking on the phone in malayalam they automatically presumed(wrongly) that i didn’t know any telugu. Much to my chagrin, their conversation veered towards mallus and more interestingly towards the cute mallu girl in their team. In a matter of seconds i learnt, where she was from and even where she lived which was more than what i would have found out even if i had talked to her!! Quite to my surprise, i also found out that Kochi is the capital of Kerala and that Kochi was the closest on the mainland to the Andamans. Ah well maybe , its better not to be invisible.

  1. he he !! a pic of the girl will help the readers understand your situation better ๐Ÿ˜›

  2. haha!

  3. haha. nice.

    ping is working now.

  4. probably your next post should contain the picture of that cute mallu girl

  5. this is so unfair … i am not multilingual …

  6. more information gathered with lesser effort … wot more do u want ๐Ÿ˜› forget the state/capital and concentrate on the pertinent (read ‘cute’) ๐Ÿ˜€

  7. Why is it so that you have so many cute girls in your office and none in mine . Not Fair !!

  8. Ah, the joys of being multilingual.
    Les joies d’รชtring multilinguel.

  9. Tipo, yeah.. u bet!

Utkarsh, there are 1500+ girls at my workplace.. and more importantly the men number less than 1500 ๐Ÿ˜€ If there was heaven on earth, this is it. this is it!!

AP, Voila! Now i know French too thanks to Mademoiselle Adorable!

  10. i hve once overheard a conversation abt me in malayalam rite in front of me…i know that sometimes we are the pits but this one was taking it new levels. I heard these chettans discussing thigs abt me even i didnt know…it was rather enlightening.

No, I didnt spoil it by asking for the time in malu…i just sat back and listened. Love being a mallu

  11. experienced similar things in past .. by being a Bihari and knowing Bengali ๐Ÿ™‚ .. but surely not as interesting as yours ๐Ÿ˜€ …
